Michael Lago, MD

Dr. Michael Lago, MD is a Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist at UT Health RGV treating various disorders of the musculoskeletal system. His practice is focused on the management of pediatric skeletal deformities, with additional interest in general orthopedic trauma.

Dr. Lago earned his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MS) and received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Lago later completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency training at The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 2016. After completion of his residency, he continued his medical education and completed his Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship at The University of Utah in 2017. 

As a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at UT Health RGV, Dr. Lago provides outstanding and compassionate care to all of his patients. Dr. Lago diagnoses and treats various disorders of the musculoskeletal system in children and adults, with a focus on pediatric skeletal deformities. Dr. Lago specializes in scoliosis evaluation, scoliosis surgery, spinal disorders, pain in the back, Hip pain and lower extremity pain in children through young adults, ankle instability, bowed legs, knock knees, flat/club foot, dislocations, bone fractures, and breaks and more.

Dr. Lago serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the UTRGV School of Medicine, educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
